Theater Aeschylus' trilogy,
the Oresteia, includes the plays _Agamemnon_, _The Libation Bearers (Choephoroi)_,
and _The Eumenides_; its story of the blood feud in the house of Atreus
will have a powerful influence on future writers and thinkers. Clytemnestra
is murdered by her son Orestes for her murder of his father Agamemnon,
and although he has been urged to commit the act by the god Apollo, he
is pursued by the Furies. Orestes flees to Athens, where the goddess Athena
establishes the court of Areopagus, grants forgiveness to Orestes, and
changes the name of the Furies to "the kindly ones." Aeschylus will die
in 2 years at age 69, but he will be survived through the ages by tragedies
that include _Prometheus
Bound_ and _The Suppliants_.

The penultimate Sandman story wraps up just about all the loose ends that Gaiman has left sitting around for 50-some issues. A lot happens: Loki turns up, Morpheus is hounded by the Furies, and Daniel's role in things is revealed.
